The first TRAVELTAPE title, whose success led to the
development of the other titles.
The first time the team of Alma Cadzow, [narration] and Paul McGinlay, [ text] and Mark
Jordan worked together, the title is an adaptation of Paul's highly acclaimed local guide
book, copies of which are also available on-line from TRAVELTAPE.
Starting at Stirling and the battle of Bannockburn, did you know the battle was due to
a wager between Robert the Bruces brother and the keeper of the Castle, the castle
of Stirling is visited next with a rich and complex history, then onto Wallace Monument
and we hear of the great deeds of this freedom fighter immortalised in film by Mel Gibson
as Braveheart.
Then on to Doune, whose fine ancient castle also featured in film; the cult film
Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
The journey arrives at Callander the gateway to the National Park, then onto the world
famous Trossachs, the birthplace of Scottish tourism, then onto the highland grandeur of
Breadalbane and over the hill to the Castle and picture postcard town of Inveraray, the
seat of the mighty Clan Campbell.
We continue along Loch Fyne and down through Cowal to Dunoon and return over the rest
and be thankful to Loch Lomond. We visit the Island with its own pub,and hear of the
mother who witnessed the execution of her husband and sons and spent the rest of her life
in isolation in the now ruined castle.
Hear the history of the clan battle which cost the MacGregor clan their freedom, as we
cross over the hill to Helenburgh, then return to Loch Lomond and then along the Carse of
Stirling to return back at the town of Stirling. A circular tour of perhaps
Scotlands most historic and beautiful regions, this Audio Guide is compelling
listening and is rich in Folklore and stories of days gone by, without doubt this ground
breaking guide in Cassette tape format is the best introduction to the area and the
TRAVELTAPE series of Audio Guides to Scotland.
Highly acclaimed by all who listen to it, we receive numerous letters and
Emails from all over the globe in praise of this production. |
